Fabulous Flower Photography by Heather Larkin
APG Meeting July 28, 6:00–7:30 PM @ The Lyndon House
The July 2026 APG meeting will feature a presentation by APG member Heather Larkin on flower photography. Heather will show you how to turn ordinary blooms into stunning flower portraits, whether you’re shooting with a longer lens for dreamy compression or a macro lens for extreme detail. You’ll learn how to choose the right lens for the look you want, add and shape light, and use shade deliberately as a compositional tool rather than something to avoid.
Heather also covers composition and depth of field, the choices that give an image its “portrait” feeling. Most importantly, you’ll learn to see flowers differently, training your eye to notice the angles and details you’d normally walk past.
Heather is a photographer and educator, teaching classes on photography all over the USA. She is a SIGMA America lens ambassador. Heather has been photographing professionally since 2003, and is internationally known for creating colorful, authentic images for clients around the world. Her photos have been featured on The Today Show, Sigma USA, Professional Photographer Magazine, Online Athens, Southern Distinction Magazine, and more. She’s also been featured in two exhibits at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. Through her work, she aims to transport viewers into a mesmerizing miniature universe, showcasing the delicate intricacies and vibrant colors that often go unnoticed in our busy lives.
